Getting
Around the Palm Springs Desert Resorts
Getting to and around the Palm Springs Desert Resorts
has never been easier. Whether via airlines, public transportation,
shuttles, taxis, limousines, automobile dealerships or car rentals,
getting from here to there is pretty much a desert breeze.
Airline service to the Palm Springs Desert Resorts has never been
better, as new airlines are introduced and existing airlines add
more flights and revise fares to make them competitive. Palm Springs
International Airport, known as “America’s Resortport,” is only
about one mile from downtown Palm Springs. It may be the only airport
in the world with its own putting green with golf balls and golf
clubs provided at no cost to passengers en route. Look for it just
as you exit the airport’s Sonny Bono Concourse.
Once you’re here, the choice of how to get around is yours. You
may opt for a car rental, allowing an exciting self-exploration
of the desert’s eight cities. You might decide to cruise the 20-plus
miles of Hwy 111, beginning in Palm Springs and meandering through
Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells and La
Quinta before finally coming to rest in historic Indio. Others search
out our world famous celebrity streets – like Frank Sinatra, Bob
Hope, Dinah Shore and Gerald Ford Drives -- named for those who
helped put the Palm Springs Desert Resorts on the map.
If that doesn’t suit your fancy, you might want to rent a Harley
Davidson motorcycle or luxury or vintage sports car and see the
desert in a whole new way. And don’t forget: golf carts are street
legal in many of our cities, so be sure to keep an eye out for all
vehicles, large and small!
Whatever you decide, you’ll find a myriad of Palm Springs Desert
Resorts transportation. |
